Major Alastair Macartney, an officer in the British Army and a BASE jumping world champion, lept off the 217-foot-high observation deck of the Liberty Memorial at the National World War I Museum in Kansas City, Mo. on Monday morning. Macartney performed the jump in commemoration of the upcoming centennial of the memorial and he will speak about his experiences at TEDxKC at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.
