Cara Combs pumped her fist after successfully water skiing over the pull boat's wake during the 18th annual "Day at the Lake" on Friday at Smithville Lake. Combs, an Army veteran who lost the use of her legs in 1993, water skied for the first time Friday at the event sponsored by the Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City and Ameristar for those with spinal cord injuries, amputees or the blind. Activities included kayaking, hand cycling, jet skiing, water skiing and boat rides.
